"A Question of Balance"
By Ralph Moore (c)2003
Have you ever considered how important it is to have
"balance" in your life?
In just about every aspect of life, from the physical to
the emotional, from the intellectual to the spiritual we
need to have balance, in order to excel.
In virtually every area of life, balance plays a very
important, sometimes even a crucial role.
In the human body there is an amazing system, consisting
of a complex series of fluid-filled tubes in the inner ear,
which is responsible for our ability to balance.
In fact, without this balance system, we would probably
find it impossible to stand upright, let alone to walk.
This system is so important, that there is an entire area
of medicine devoted to the study of balance disorders of
the inner ear.
Athletes depend upon this physical balance system in every
event in which they compete.
How would the Olympic gymnast win Gold, Silver or Bronze
without this vital balance system?
Another area in the physical realm is our health. Eat too
much or too little of certain foods and our health begins
to suffer.
How about in our family lives? The husband or wife who
spends too much time with hobbies or other outside
interests, takes the chance of harming their marriage
relationship. Emotional health in relationships depends
upon a certain amount of balance to thrive.
How about in the business world? When a businessman spends
all of his time in one area, while neglecting other vital
parts of his business, sometimes that's all it takes for
an organization to fail.
Balance plays an important role in intellectual pursuits,
as well. The purpose of all knowledge is action. You can
collect an enormous amount of theoretical knowledge, but
if you never put it into practice, what good is it?
Conversely, action without knowledge and preparation is
simply chaos. The person who strikes out blindly, trying
to accomplish something without first setting a goal, is
not likely to reach a desired destination. Balance, once
again plays a critical role in the success or failure of
such actions.
In the spiritual areas of life, balance is also important.
It has been said that "a man can become so 'spiritual' that
he is of no worldly good." On the other hand, without some
degree of belief in a higher power, we stand the chance of
seeing ourselves as 'gods', able to do no wrong.
People who have held that attitude throughout history, have
been given names, such as despot and tyrant.
And in nearly every case, the world at large has found it
necessary to bring them back into balance. For those
individuals, the end results were often less than pleasant.
As we go through life, it is important to pay attention to
the details, in order to receive the best that life has to
offer.
I believe that is is possible for you and I to reach our
goals and to excel in every aspect of our lives, from the
physical to the emotional, from the intellectual to the
spiritual.
It is really just a question of balance!

[Sites and services that we recommend]
"Traffic Swarm" - Get FREE targeted traffic
During the launch of my Netprofits101.com web site,
I discovered Traffic Swarm. Not only did Stone Evans
provide me with an excellent site at no charge, but he
pointed me to a traffic generating system that works
surprisingly well.
The unpaid version of Traffic Swarm works by setting
your web browser start page to your own Traffic Swarm
page. You receive a FREE page where you can create up
to ten targeted ads, and point them to the web site(s)
where you want the traffic.
Every time that you open your browser to view a web
page, you will earn credits which are then used to
determine how many times your ads are shown on the
network.
And when you set up your browser to open at your own
page, you can choose which areas of interest you are
interested in. In theory, at least, you will then see
only ads corresponding to your selections.
In reality, there are a LOT of Internet marketing ads
that dominate Traffic Swarm, at this time.
The thing that I like about this system is the amount
of control that I have over editing my ads. This is a
well thought out system that has been adding several
new subscribers to the newsletter each day.
If you use this service as I have, with a tracking system
such as LightningTrack, you can monitor and edit any ads
which are not getting the desired response. In fact, this
system works so well that I have upgraded to the paid
system for the added benefits. Take a look here:

[Tools to help you "get a grip" on things]
"Master Spambot Buster" - FREE Software
As a another way of saying "Thank You" for subscribing,
here is a FREE cgi script that will help you cut down on
the amount of "spam" or unsolicited commercial email that
you are undoubtedly receiving.
One of the reasons that there is so much spam, is because
of the "robots" or "spiders" that automatically scan the
Internet and "harvest" email addresses from millions of
web sites.
Master Spambot Buster is a very simple but elegant tool.
This script program can be used to hide email addresses in
newsletters, newsgroup postings, discussion list postings,
instant messages, print ads, and any other document on the
World Wide Web.
Since no email addresses are contained on any web page,
they cannot be "harvested".
Instead of using a "live" email address, when you click an
email address link on a web page, your browser "calls" the
script.
Master Spambot Buster then tells your email program the
correct email address to use when sending your email.
This is a program that I am currently implementing on
the Eagle Flyer Newsletter web site.
Complete instructions are included in the zip file. If you
are unfamiliar with cgi scripts, let me know, and I'll help
you get it installed.

LightningTrack - Know What You're Doing
If you are going to market your products on the "net",
you are going to need to know what your prospects want,
which pages of your site they are visiting, and what
kind of results you are getting from your advertising.
This is called tracking. While it is not absolutely
necessary to track EVERYTHING, if you do not keep track
of your marketing efforts, how are you ever going to
know whether or not your work is paying off?
Some examples of tracking can be found throughout this
issue of the newsletter.
In section 4) "Alter Eagle" I am using a tracking tag
to tell me how many people who read the issue went on
to "click through" to the Traffic Swarm web site.
If I see that a high percentage of my number of readers
are clicking the link, then I know that 1) they are
actually reading that part of the newsletter, and 2)
they just might be interested in knowing more about
how to get more traffic to their web sites in a future
article.
The tracking link mentioned above can be broken down
as follows: the go.php script in the "go" directory on
the eagleflyer.com web site, is using the link called
"ts30724ef".
The "ts" is for Traffic Swarm, which is what I am
tracking, "3" is for the year 2003, "07" is July,
"24" is the date and "ef", stands for Eagle Flyer,
where the link is available for people to click.
LightningTrack keeps a detailed record of the number of
clicks, the dates, times and more, and gives me a very
reliable "picture" of what is happening as a result of
the work that I am doing.
The LightningTrack program not only provides a way to
track where your customers are going as a result of your
advertising efforts, but also a method of figuring the
return on your advertising dollar.
LightningTrack also includes "split testing", dead link
checking with an automatic re-direct feature, auto-delete
for time-limited marketing efforts, and more.
This is the one of the tools that I use every day in my
marketing work.
Serious Internet marketers would benefit from this highly
effective program. You can get more information here:
LightningTrack
P.S. The link above is another example of tracking.

[Ideas to inspire better communication]
A man was driving his car, when suddenly a wheel flew off
of the vehicle. Standing next to his car, the shaken fellow
noticed a man standing inside the fenced compound of the
local mental hospital. The driver said "Well, I guess I'm
going to be stuck here for a while."
"Not necessarily, said the patient." What advice did the
patient give the driver, so that he could be on his way?

Answer to Last Issue's Puzzler...
[In a town in Indiana, 10% of all the people living there
have unlisted phone numbers. If you randomly selected 50
names from the phone directory, how many of them would have
unlisted phone numbers?]
None. Unlisted numbers do not appear in the directory.
