"LightningTrack - Know What You're Doing"
By Ralph Moore (c)2003
If you are going to market your products on the "net",
you are going to need to know what your prospects want,
which pages of your site they are visiting, and what
kind of results you are getting from your advertising.
This is called tracking. While it is not absolutely
necessary to track EVERYTHING, if you do not keep track
of your marketing efforts, how are you ever going to
know whether or not your work is paying off?
Some examples of tracking can be found throughout a
recent issue of my Eagle Flyer newsletter.
In section 4) "Alter Eagle" of Issue 33 of the Eagle Flyer
Newsletter, which can be viewed at this link I am using a
tracking tag to tell me how many people who read the issue
went on to "click through" to the Traffic Swarm web site.
If I see that a high percentage of my number of readers
are clicking the link, then I know that 1) they are
actually reading that part of the newsletter, and 2)
they just might be interested in knowing more about
how to get more traffic to their web sites in a future
article.
The tracking link mentioned above can be broken down as
follows: [eagleflyer.com /go /go.php /ts30724ef] the go.php
script in the "go" directory on the eagleflyer.com web site,
is using the link called "ts30724ef".
The "ts" is for Traffic Swarm, which is what I am tracking,
"3" is for the year 2003, "07" is July, "24" is the date and
"ef", stands for Eagle Flyer, where the link is available
for people to click.
LightningTrack keeps a detailed record of the number of
clicks, the dates, times and more, and gives me a very
reliable "picture" of what is happening as a result of
the work that I am doing.
The LightningTrack program not only provides a way to
track where your customers are going as a result of your
advertising efforts, but also a method of figuring the
ROI on your advertising dollar.
If you are advertising in "Pay Per Click" search engines
or directories, you can create a link complete with the
cost of the ad, and instantly compare which ads are most
cost-effective. You can then improve your advertising by
making changes to your headlines or ads.
LightningTrack also has a feature called "split testing".
For example, if you have two or three ads that you are
testing, LightningTrack will send the first visitor to the
first link, the second visitor to the second link, and so
on. Over a period of time, you can see which ads are
getting the best results in terms of "clickthroughs".
LightningTrack also includes "automatic re-direct". If you
are linking to a site that is down for some reason, you can
specify another site for the visitor to be re-directed to,
so that your efforts are not wasted.
If for some reason one of your links stops working, as
mentioned above, the built-in "dead link checking" feature
will notify you by email, so that you can fix the problem.
You can even set up time-limited marketing tests, and have
LightningTrack delete the link when the time period expires.
There are many tracking programs on the Internet, but for
a simple yet powerful solution at a reasonable cost, I have
found LightningTrack to meet all of my needs.
This is the one of the tools that I use every day in my
marketing work.
Serious Internet marketers would benefit from this highly
effective program. You can get more information: here
P.S. The link above is another example of tracking.
